Terms and Conditions of Hire

When referring to I, We, Me, Rachael / Rach and Kayla or similar pronouns we are referring to the entity Hire Melbourne.  

 1. WHEN BOOKING 

PLEASE READ AND AGREE TO TERMS AND CONDITIONS PRIOR TO BOOKING.

IF YOU REQUIRE POSTAGE PLEASE DM US ON INSTAGRAM @HIREMELBOURNE TO MAKE SURE WE CAN POST IT. WE CANNOT BOOK BACK TO BACK POSTAL HIRES.

NO REFUND WILL BE PROVIDED FOR A MISTAKE ON YOUR BEHALF IF WE CANNOT POST IT TO YOU FOR YOUR SELECTED DATE. ONLY A STORE CREDIT OR EXCHANGE WILL BE PROVIDED. 

PLEASE ONLY SELECT THE DATE IN THE BOOKING SYSTEM YOU WILL BE WEARING IT NOT A FEW DAYS PRIOR AS WE DO NEXT BUSINESS DAY RETURNS AND ONLY POST FOR YOUR SELECTED BOOKED DATE. 

YOUR GOVERNMENT ISSUED DRIVERS LICENSE OR KEY PASS (or equivalent per state) WILL BE REQUIRED TO BOOK AS WELL AS NAME, ADDRESS AND MOBILE. YOU WILL RECEIVE A INSTAGRAM MESSAGE OR EMAIL FROM HIRE MELBOURNE TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION. YOU MUST BE 18+ TO BOOK OR A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN WITH THE SAME RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS AS YOU WILL NEED TO BOOK ON YOUR BEHALF, PROVIDE THEIR DETAILS AND AGREE TO TERMS AND CONDITIONS. 

2. How to Book 

When checking out an item, please ensure to ONLY book the date you intend on wearing the item NOT a few days prior.

Please ensure you are able to pick it up from the selected location / studio Hillside or Bendigo or if postage is required please DM US at @HireMelbourne on Instagram to make sure we can post it to you for your selected date. We do not offer refunds for a mistake on your behalf. Only a store credit or exchange will be available. 

You will receive and email or Instagram message from @HireMelbourne to retrieve your government issued ID, full name, address and mobile and to collect the $50-$100 bond required to fulfil your order. This must be done prior to picking up or posting your item. Please ensure all your details are correct when you book via Shopify as we post to that address. 

We will usually try and send a email or Instagram message within 24 hours of you booking and paying for your hire for the bond and information listed in the paragraph above. 

Check out your item by selecting the size and date you will be wearing it in the calendar below the items photo. Head to your cart to pay for your item. Select postage or pick up at the next stage. Postage costs will be added there if you require it and it’s has been discussed prior to you booking your item for your selected date. 

3. Taking Care of Our Items 


All garments must be returned in original condition without any damage including markings/stains major pulls etc. to the garment. If the garment is not returned in original condition a partial amount of the bond or full bond may be kept and extra damage fees maybe required to pay by renter on top of the bond if it exceeds the bond costs paid to Hire Melbourne. 

Additional cleaning costs START FROM $5 per extra wash and $20 per extra dry clean. All items differ in price for extra cleaning costs etc. We only wash / standard clean and dry clean our items once any additional cleans that don’t remove the stains or smells etc will be charged as accordingly. You will be notified via email, text or Instagram message of the damages / stains / extra cleans or repairs required. You will be sent a receipt of the extra repairs or cleans required via email, text or Instagram message. 

We do understand accidents happen and most stains, rips, pulls and tears can or may be repairable which will come out of the bond or if additional fees are required you will be notified via phone call, text, email or Instagram message. We also understand wear and tear may happen due to the nature of the item. 

If a garment is ruined beyond repair, you will be required to pay the full amount of the item or a price agreed on by HireMelbourne to replace the item. The item must not be kept it has to be returned to the business Hire Melbourne. It is our under our discretion to sell / give you the item.    

A standard clean or dry cleaning depending on the item is included in the hire price, just wear and return and we will have it cleaned. A clean / standard cleaning is just a hand wash and dry cleaning is a dry clean listed on each item. Additional dry cleaning fees may apply if stains don’t come out with a standard clean / cleaning. 

No alterations should or will be made to the garment. Do not attempt to clean or iron the garment yourself, it will be cleaned professionally upon return. Consequences and damage fees may apply if taken upon yourself to do so. Please let me know of any damages straight away. Unrepairable damage to the dress or unreturned items will result in the full RRP to be paid out in full. No dress will be kept; it must be sent back. 

Rental condition items may be brand new or in good rental condition but not limited to small tears, fraying, stains, pulls, missing embellishments etc. We do not rent damaged beyond repair items. If any items have major repairs it will be disclosed to the customer in the listing. 

Our $25 hire range only includes a standard clean, if there is excessive staining etc. that cannot be removed with a standard clean or believed will not be removed with a standard clean you will be charged a chemical dry cleaning fee which will come out of the bond. 

By renting a garment it is automatically assumed and the responsibility of the renter to have read the terms and conditions and follow these conditions.

3. Try Ons and Bookings

To book in an item for a desired hire date, full payment of the rental cost is needed to reserve the item via booking on our website. If the item isn’t paid for in full we can’t guarantee the garment will be available for the date or your event.

Try ons and all items are subject to availability of the item we do not hold items without a full payment of the booking. If you would like to book a try on at our Hillside or Bendigo location please DM us on Instagram at @HireMelbourne. Please refer to the try on policy listed on our website. 

4. Store Credit Policy

NO REFUNDS, we do store credit notes only. In order to receive a store credit your item must be returned before your rental date starts this is on the day you pick up the item or the day it has been delivered via postage unless agreed upon by both parties to return a different date.

Store credit booked via High Street Runway the app can only be used on items on High Street Runway app on our shop only @rachaeldon97.

Store credit excludes postage costs and bond. Store credit is non-transferable to another person and cannot be exchanged for cash.

All transactions are final including wrong sizing, canceled events and change of mind. You may be eligible to switch for another item of equal or less value if you desire on our page or store credit. This is subject to availability.

You may be required to cover additional shipping if you cannot pick up from the designated location or additional rental fee costs to make up the difference between hire items. This must be done the same day as you picking the item up or the day the parcel has arrived via Australia Post.

Store credit must be used within one year of your original booked date the item must unworn and undamaged, unless agreed upon by both parties to extend the credit note. You will not take photos in the item for social media prior to sending it back this will be considered a hire period. It must be stain and smell free cleaning fees will apply and in the same condition as sent in. You will be sent a code via email or Instagram DM with the amount of your store credit minus shipping and bond costs. 

Store credits cannot be returned for store credits and are final sale, they can only be exchanged for an item or items of equal or less value for the same date you booked the store credit for.

A store credit will be credited once the item is back in our procession and checked for no damage or wear. 

If you cancel your date you forfeit the date for someone else to book the item. You will receive a store credit when you cancel prior to picking it up or having it posted. 

You will be sent a code of the price of your store credit to use on a hire with an expiry once the item has been returned. 

We follow regulations as per ACCC conditions regarding refunds for faulty and not as described items.

If you have any outstanding store credit please DM us on Instagram to claim this before it expires.

If an order is cancelled on the discretion of @HireMelbourne a $30 fee will be charged and come out of your booking costs to cover admin fees.

Store credit codes unfortunately cannot be used with any other code and are non transferable for cash or to another client.  If the item is returned later than the agreed same day delivery period for a store credit note an exchange for the same booked date will be offered only. You may need to over additional fees between hires costs and postage if applicable. 

5. Bonds and Information 

A bond WILL be collected usually between $50-$100+ depending on the item booked per item. We collect information like; full name, address, mobile and a photo of a valid driver's license for precautionary reasons. You must be 18 years and older to book an item in, if you are a minor you will need a parent or legal guardian with the same address as you to book it in. They will need to agree to Terms and Conditions and provide their information as listed above.  

Your private details will not be shared publicly unless Australian Police or a legal team need to be actioned or a social media approach is taken to retrieve a stolen item or amounts owed to Hire Melbourne. Your address will never be published publicly online.   

Bonds will be returned via bank transfer once an item has come back from our dry cleaner or has been cleaned by us and all marks/stains come out. This can take up to 1-2 business weeks usually. 

We will request via email, text, phone call or Instagram message from @HireMelbourne that you transfer the bond costs and any additional costs to the designated account we send you via Osko payment on your banking app. We cannot post or do pick ups if the payment has not cleared. 

6. Gift Vouchers and discount codes

Gif vouchers have three years expiry on them from the date of issue. We don’t tend to normally issue gift cards.

All vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any other voucher or offer. 

Discount codes and gift vouchers will be emailed, sent via text or Instagram message. 

The $5 off discount code for tagging @HireMelbourne in your posts on Instagram only cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or voucher. Once you have tagged us you will be sent a discount code via email, text, or Instagram message. If we miss it please DM us on Instagram so it can be issued. $5 off tag vouchers are valid for one year from your original booked date. 

7. Postage, Collection and Returns

Please DM us on Instagram @HireMelbourne before you check out to make sure your are eligible for postage. No refund will be provided for a mistake on your behalf only a credit or exchange for an item of equal or less value. 

If postage is an agreed method we provide both receiving and returning express bags for the garments - tracking number WILL always be given. Postage starts from $29.60 return, this can be more depending on the weight and size of the item.

We ship Australia wide, we do not post internationally.  

We DO NOT take responsibility for shipment timing of items via Australia Post. This is out of our control. A return slip already filled in will be included in the package.

All you need to do is lodge it in person to the person over the counter at the post office the next business day after wearing the garment. Please ensure to collect a lodgement receipt and DM us a picture of it on Instagram or via email to hiremelbourne2017@gmail.com 

Items if eligible for postage are sent approximately a business week prior to your booked date. If an item is booked late in the week and postage is requested and accepted we cannot guarantee any postage delivery times.

We can discuss a potential alternative option if the item doesn’t arrive in time, if the item is not booked the weekend after. You may be required to return the item if it is already booked the next rental week. Subject to availability* 

Any lost items in the mail is your responsibility due to your choice of delivery method and is considered a stolen / lost item, the RRP of the dress will need to be paid out if Australia Post cannot locate the item.  

Items are to be returned the next business day before COB via lodging at the post office or drop off method. Items are to be returned Monday if an item is booked for a weekend, or next day return if an item is booked on a weekday. Public holiday items may be returned the next business day. 

Pick-ups will be available approximately 1-2 days prior to your desired booked date. You will receive an email, Instagram message or text with designated pick up times from our three locations Hillside, Coburg (occasionally) & Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo the week of your event. We usually run pick up times at night before 9pm or Saturday mornings. If the designated time doesn’t suit please get in contact with us and we can try and arrange an alternative time with you but can’t guarantee it. Our pick-up locations will mostly be from Hillside & Kangaroo Flat, Coburg is only an occasional option when it suits Kayla, you will be notified via email if it will be an option for you. We will send you the address via email, text or Instagram message the week of your event once you reply with a suitable pick up time. Please do not turn up in the area without confirmation of pickup time and address. You will not be refunded etc. Please refer to our pick up times on our website for set hours. 

WE DO NOT ACCEPT POST BOX RETURNS, late fees, incorrectly lodged fees and not returned fees will apply of $20 per day until it arrives. You may be required to pay the rental fee again if it doesn’t come in time for the next hire period. This may come out of the bond or be an additional charge. Evidence must be provided such as a photo of the lodgement receipt or the tracking updating on the app at the point of scanning before COB in the return date. 

You will be able to pick up your booked item from the designated studio location 1-2 days prior to your booked event unless discussed prior to booking the item. You will be sent an email or Instagram message with the address for pick up and drop off before you collect it.  

If an item is not collected prior or on your booking date and your booking date passes you will not receive a store credit or exchange. 

All items must be lodged at the post office in person to avoid loss of item. 

Pick up items must be dropped back to the same location with was picked up unless agreed otherwise prior to booking.

When you have been sent the address for pick up or the tracking details to your agreed postal rental you will also be notified on how to return your item via postage or drop back.

Drop back hires will need to be returned between 8am - 9pm for Bendigo and 6pm - 9pm for Hillside prior or on the next business day after your desired hire date, late fees apply of $20 a day. You will be sent instructions on how to do this. Once you have dropped back the item please contact us with evidence it has been returned if a contactless drop back has been agreed. 

If you require postage and drop back method or pick up and post back method please DM us on Instagram to arrange this. 

We DO NOT accept Uber returns. 

When a postage bag has already been prefilled out and given / posted or posting that day postage is a non-refundable payment in that instance. 

 8. Late and Damage Fees

Late fees apply, a posted rental needs to be lodged back the next working business day before close of business and a lodgement receipt needs to be sent as proof for returns. This is Monday if worn on the weekend or the next business day if it’s a mid week rental.  If this is done any later than the next business day a late fee of $20 a day will be deducted from the bond or requested to pay. This also applies to pick up and drop off dresses from the agreed return date onwards if returned late. You may have to pay the rental fee again for loss of rental damages if the dress isn’t returned in time for the next hire period / weekend. This may be taken out of your bond.

Damages and not returned items incur a fee on all items. No alterations should or will be made to the garment. Do not attempt to clean or iron the garment yourself, it will be cleaned by us or professionally upon return. Do not safety pin, sew or alter the dress in anyway this can cause irreversible damage. Consequences and damage fees may apply if taken upon yourself to do so. Please let me know of any damages straight away. Unrepairable damage to the dress or unreturned items will result in the full RRP to be paid out in full. No dress will be kept; it must be sent back. 

If the dress is considered stolen (not returned after 1 week from your return date) the full RRP will be paid out and Australia Police will be contacted or other methods same goes for any outstanding fees. 

Only the client booking the item may wear this item, it cannot be “shared”. Additional cleaning fees may apply if a standard dry clean can’t remove things such as stains and tan etc. Items are checked thoroughly before they are sent out to ensure all zips etc are working. Photo evidence may be taken before an item is sent out. 

 9. Extended Rentals

We offer extended rentals at cost, please inquire via Instagram DM @HireMelbourne about these before you pay for your rental.

This is not valid for items that have not been agreed upon before the payment has been made or on items that have already been collected or sent out. 

 

@HireMelbourne reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without notice. Failure to not read terms and conditions may have consequences.

By paying on our website or via Instagram DM it is assumed you have read and agreed to the full the Terms and Conditions listed above .
